St. John's University is a private Catholic university located in the outskirts of Fresh Meadows.

St. John’s University is a private Catholic university located in the outskirts of Fresh Meadows. The school, founded in 1870 by the Vincentian Fathers of the Roman Catholic Church, was originally in Brooklyn. The university relocated to Queens in the 1950s.

St. John’s University has campuses in other locations as well. The other locations include Staten Island, Manhattan, Rome, and a school in France that opened in 2009. The university in Queens has grown, and it now attracts students from outside of New York. The school currently has seven dorms and a townhouse complex for students who are staying on campus.

St. John’s is a fulltime, four-year school, which features academic courses in arts, science, and many professional fields. Students who attend the university will find many different activities and organizations to join. The school features St. John’s Bread & Life, and Campus Ministries that many students enjoy. They will also be able to join fraternities and sororities. The houses are located off campus. The school has its own newspaper as well, called the Torch. The newspaper is student-run, and it has been in circulation since 1922.

Those at the school will find that it is only about an hour to Manhattan when they take the F Train. A stop is located just a few blocks away from the campus. One of the core classes at the university is Discover New York, a three-credit course, which takes advantage of the closeness to the city.

The university also has a very successful athletics department. The 17 NCAA Division I teams are part of the Big East Conference. Their lacrosse and fencing teams compete in the ECAC, the Eastern College Athletic Conference. St. John’s offers soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, track and field, volleyball, softball, and fencing.
