Founded in 1858, St Francis Preparatory is a private college preparatory institution in the Fresh Meadows area. This is a catholic institution and is touted as the “largest non-diocesan Catholic High School in the United States.” Nearly every student in the graduating class each year, which is between 600 and 700 students, will go on to continue their education. Several public figures have graduated from St Francis Preparatory, including names such as Julie Chen, hostess of the reality show “Big Brother,” Joe Torre, former manager for the New York Yankees baseball team and Vince Lombardi, former coach of the football team the “Green Bay Packers.”
